The bloody family feud between the McCoys of Kentucky and the Hatfields of West Virginia spanned generations and left more than a dozen of their kinfolk dead. The story has been explored countless times in news accounts, books, magazines, stage plays and TV and film productions. Notably, a History Channel miniseries on the feud was highly acclaimed. Now, the Hatfields & McCoys return to the screen in the next installment of anthology series.
The Feud is written and directed by and premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 9 p.m. It’s the most famous family rivalry in American history, but there is still much to learn. MacLowry contends that the story is one of more than two warring families – but rather an exploration of the impact of capitalism and industrialization on rural America.
Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss The Feud is writer/producer/director Randall MacLowry.
Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
