The , or DAV, was first imagined at a 1919 Christmas party in Cincinnati. It was officially created as the Disabled American Veterans of the World War on September 25, 1920, at its first National Caucus, held in Cincinnati's Memorial Hall.
Today, the DAV has almost 1,300 chapters and nearly 1.3 million members across the country.
