If your medicine cabinet is overflowing with old or unused medications, you now have a place to dispose of them safely. Kentucky now has almost in the state.
The governor's office says in a release, the drop off boxes will be monitored and are located in law enforcement buildings. You can drop off the unneeded medications with no questions asked and the agencies will make sure the drugs are disposed of in an environmentally safe manner.
Along with the environmental concerns, the governor says it will also reduce the risk of the drugs being diverted and abused. Attorney General Jack Conway says one in five Kentucky teens has abused prescription medication.
