Work continues to complete the funding puzzle to renovate Cincinnati's Music Hall.
is helping with the project. President Steve Leeper spoke to city council's Economic Growth and Infrastructure Committee Tuesday. The plan has a price tag of $123 million and right now there is about a $20 million hole.
鈥淲e are still working with the philanthropic community to close that gap,鈥� Leeper said. 鈥淭he goal would be to close that in the next 90 days or so, and to proceed on so that there could be some work done in that facility as early as this fall.鈥�
That work starting in the fall would be behind the scenes. Major construction could start next spring with the goal of having it completed to allow the Cincinnati Symphony to open its season in the renovated Music Hall in 2017.
Leeper also acknowledged the importance of getting the project right.
鈥淲e can make this building beautiful,鈥� Leeper said. 鈥淏ut if it doesn鈥檛 function from a sound standpoint, we will have failed.鈥�
The project when the Ohio Development Services Agency awarded it $25 million in Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credits.
