The Cincinnati Public Schools Board of Education is selecting Ozie Davis III to fill an open spot on the board.Davis was selected from seven applicants to fill the spot vacated by by Lannis Timmons, who . The position runs through December 2019.
He's is a well-known community advocate from Avondale, principal with Ozie Davis and Associates, and member of the Rockdale Academy Local School Decision Making Committee. He is a graduate of Walnut Hills High School and earned a law degree from Indiana University. Davis worked for former U.S. Rep. Steve Driehaus.
Davis says in a statement he's committed to engaging in "concise, impactful and meaningful work." He adds, "The end mission of preparing our youth to be positive contributors ot his earth is directly on point."
Davis will be sworn into office ahead of the June 1 deadline set by the state for filling the opening. A ceremonial swearing in is set for the Board's next regular meeting on June 11.
Davis was also a candidate for Cincinnati City Council in 2017, running as an endorsed Democrat. He finished 11th in the field race for nine council seats.
