Macy's announced significant changes in its investors call this week, including the closure of more than 100 stores across the country, including one at Northgate Mall. But more impactful was the retail giant's news that its Cincinnati headquarters would also be shut down, eliminating from the city nearly 500 jobs.
The news also marks the end of Federated Department stores, Macy's predecessor here, which was responsible for a lot of the city's development due to its attraction of top executives.
Meanwhile, Reds great Pete Rose, famously banned from Major League Baseball for gambling violations, wants to be reinstated, citing the recent charges against the Houston Astros.
University of Cincinnati football coach Luke Fickell is a top target, reportedly, to take over at Michigan State, where the position opened up upon this week's announcement that Mark Dantonio, another former Bearcat coach, is stepping down.
