If 鈥淐arol鈥� wins any Academy Awards, it would be a big upset after all the film awards ignoring the Cate Blanchett-Rooney Mara movie this month.
Blanchett and Mara, who starred in the 1952 love story shot here in 2014, again were shut out at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Saturday, as 鈥淐arol鈥� was at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice awards.
Blanchett was up for best actress; Mara for supporting actress. 鈥淐arol鈥� was not nominated for a SAG best picture award. The SAG winners were familiar faces from January鈥檚 award circuit:
"Spotlight," best performance by a cast in a motion picture (translation: best picture).
Leonardo DiCaprio, "The Revenant," lead actor.
Brie Larson, "Room," lead actress.
Idris Elba, "Beasts of No Nation," supporting actor.
Alicia Vikander, "The Danish Girl," supporting actress.
Elba, an African-American, was not nominated for an Oscar. He also won best TV movie/miniseries actor for 鈥淟uther.鈥�

鈥淐arol鈥� has six nominations 鈥� but not best picture 鈥� at the 88th Academy Awards Sunday, Feb. 28, on ABC (7 p.m., Channel 9). It is nominated for best actress (Blanchett); supporting actress (Mara); cinematography; costume design; original score; and adapted screenplay.
