This sounds like fun: Gary Burbank, Katie Laur Marcos Sastre, former Pure Prairie League drummer Billy Hinds and others join Brian O'Donnell for a two-hour tribute to longtime Cincinnati guitarist Larry Goshorn at 8 p.m. Saturday on WVXU-FM and WMUB-FM.
He's been part of the Cincinnati music scene for decades, best known for his years with the Sacred Mushroom, Pure Prairie League and the Goshorn Brothers. He wrote Pure Prairie League's hit "Two Lane Highway."
Burbank, Laur, Sastre, Hinds and former Sacred Mushroom musician Joe Stewart gathered at WVXU-FM to tell O'Donnell and Goshorn their favorite stories about their friend – opening for Janis Joplin at Music Hall, touring with Pure Prairie League, playing blues on Burbank's WLW-AM show and many more.
Joining them by phone were Larry's brother Tim; pianist Steve Schmidt from New York; and music historian/musician/writer Larry Nager from Nashville.
The two-hour broadcast includes recorded interviews with drummer Bam Powell; musician Jim Hunt; Pure Prairie League founding member George Powell; and Ludlow Garage alumnus/graphic artist Jeff Siereveld.
Here's a produced by Lee Hay, with assistance from Stephen Baum, Cassandra Stepp, Andy Balterman and Michael Murphy.
Sounds like a lot of fun. Hope you can tune in at 8 p.m. Saturday.
