From Aaron Sharpe, WNKU-FM general manager:
This Weekend, We Say Goodbye to Some of WNKU's Most Beloved Programs
Well, there's just no good way to say this. Several of WNKU's longest-running and most popular weekend programs will air for the last time this Saturday and Sunday.
These shows include "You're On the Air with Mr. Rhythm Man" (7-10 p.m. Saturday), "Roadhouse Blues" with Ken Hanes (10 p.m.-midnight Saturday), "The Front Porch" with Pam Temple (9 a.m.-noon Sunday), The Real Mary Peale Show (5-8 p.m. Sunday) and "Music From the Hills of Home" with Katie Laur and Oakley Scot (8-11 p.m. Sunday).
On February 14th of this year, Northern Kentucky University announced they would be While the station will likely remain on the air for at least several more weeks and perhaps months, staffing will be significantly reduced by March 31st. "Funky Fridays with Freekbass" (6-9 p.m.) and the "80's Mix Tape" (9 p.m.-midnight) will conclude on that date.
We know. Get out the tissues. It's gonna be sad for all of us, but we hope you'll tune in and help us celebrate an amazing run of truly unique radio programming this weekend.
Thanks for listening.
Sincerely,
Aaron Sharpe
General Manager
PS:. A lot of people ask what will happen to the on-demand archives of these shows. We're still working on that, but in the meantime, they'll be available or as long as WNKU remains on the air!
