High school students from ASU West Valley Future Doctors Institute visit º£½ÇÉçÇø for a glimpse into healthcare education

º£½ÇÉçÇøâ€™s Glendale campus was once again a proud sponsor of the , a summer program for high school students with an interest in healthcare professions. Faculty and students from º£½ÇÉçÇøâ€™s College of Veterinary Medicine, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, and College of Dental Medicine-Arizona traveled to the neighboring ASU West Campus on June 9 to lead workshops in canine CPR, osteopathic medicine hands-on training, and admissions interviewing and application writing. Later in the week on June 12, the high school students visited MWU’s campus for a series of additional hands-on workshops taught by more than 30 º£½ÇÉçÇø students and faculty. The interactive day-long visit included suturing, ultrasound, and vital signs in the Clinical Skills & Simulation Center; tooth waxing in the Dental Sim Lab; and a visit to the anatomy lab; and a panel of current MWU students sharing their journeys and answering questions.

“I found the trip to º£½ÇÉçÇø really interesting, especially the anatomy lab. We got to see real cadavers, and I grew a lot of respect for those donors who value science. These hands-on activities gave me a lot of insight into what I might study in the future.â€
