A city of Cincinnati employee has been fired after an 鈥渁ggressive, derogatory, and disparaging鈥� interaction with pro-Palestinian demonstrators outside City Hall in August.

Dozens of residents spoke again Wednesday ahead of the council vote. Some called the resolution "a mockery" and "paltry, insufficient, and insulting."

For several weeks, hundreds of Cincinnatians have urged City Council to pass a resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and Israel. Hundreds more have also asked Council not to support a ceasefire.

Since the war between Israel and Hamas began, multiple student protests related to the conflict have been held on campus.

State Treasurer Daniel Elliott said in a statement the bond purchase reflects his confidence in "Israel's victory ... over the forces of evil."
