About Our Curriculum
The program includes in-house Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medical Services, and Critical Care rotations. The residents rotate at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where they gain experience in the pediatric emergency department, pediatric intensive care, and the trauma unit, and at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix, where they receive intensive toxicological training.

Core Didactics: Didactics are held on Thursday mornings for five hours and focus on small group discussions reinforcing AOBEM/ABEM core content in emergency medicine. These group discussions follow a modular format, with different learning pathways available to complement residents' differing learning styles. Weekly plenary lectures emphasize key learning points, and simulation highlights each module’s subject matter. There is also a weekly emphasis on oral board examination skills and practice. Once a month, residents participate in the Journal Club, which fosters the necessary skills for lifelong learning and reviewing changing literature.
